For decades, the Tagasaka Seventh-day Adventist Church in Barangay Tagasaka, Municipality of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, Philippines, has been a vital place of worship and fellowship for its members. Built in the early 1970s, the church has served as a spiritual home for many. However, due to continued road construction in the area, the church site has become prone to flooding, making worship services increasingly difficult, especially during the rainy season.
With no alternative location, members were left with no choice but to continue holding services in the flood-prone area. Despite these challenges, the congregation remains strong, and their dedication to spreading the gospel remains unwavering.
In 2023, a new opportunity arose when the family of Sister Editha Aquino (mother of Sister Gemma Sto. Niño) generously donated a parcel of land in a safer location. This donation set the foundation for the construction of a new church building. With contributions from church members and support from the local community, construction began. However, progress has been slow due to financial constraints.
Recognizing the need to support this meaningful project, Advent SHARE Ministries (ASM) stepped in and donated 112,920 PHP (approximately $2,000) to help fund the construction. This donation has provided crucial financial assistance in purchasing materials and continuing the work needed to bring the new church to completion.
The Tagasaka Seventh-day Adventist Church Building Project is a testament to what faith, generosity, and unity can achieve. Through the kindness of donors like ASM and the unwavering commitment of church members, this dream is steadily becoming a reality. With continued support, the church will soon have a new home—one that will stand strong for years to come, offering a place of worship, spiritual growth, and community fellowship.
